                                          About Playwright :-

William Shakespeare (26 April  1564 - 23 April 1616) was an English playwright , poet and actor ,widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's greatest dramatist.                        Shakespeare's Plays

Shakespeare's plays are a canon  of approximately 39 dramatic works written by English poet ,playwright ,and actor William Shakespeare . The exact number of plays- as well as their classification as tragedy,  history and comedy is a matter of scholarly debate.

Tragedies

William Shakespeare knew how to strike a chord in the tragedy department. Following the Greek tragedy tradition, characters in Shakespearean tragedies often have tragic flaws that lead to their ultimate downfall. Here are the tragedies penned by Shakespeare:

  • Titus Andronicus (1591 - 1592)
  • Romeo and Juliet (1595 - 1596)
  • Julius Caesar (1599)
  • Hamlet (1600)
  • Othello (1604)
  • Timon of Athens (1604 - 1606)
  • Macbeth (1606)
  • King Lear (1605 - 1606)
  • Antony and Cleopatra (1606 - 1607)
  • Coriolanus (1608)

Comedies

In the context of Shakespearean plays, "comedy" doesn't necessarily mean it's funny (though it often is). It can just mean there is a happy ending, usually involving a wedding. Shakespeare filled theaters with some of these comedies:

  • The Taming of the Shrew (1580 - 1590)
  • The Two Gentlemen of Verona (1590s)
  • The Comedy of Errors (1594)
  • A Midsummer Night's Dream (1595 - 1596)
  • Love's Labour's Lost (1595 - 1596)
  • The Merchant of Venice (1596 - 1597)
  • The Merry Wives of Windsor (1597 - 1601)
  • Much Ado About Nothing (1598)
  • As You Like It (1599)
  • Twelfth Night (1601)
  • Troilus and Cressida (1601 - 1602)
  • All's Well That Ends Well (1603 - 1606)
  • Measure for Measure (1604)
  • Pericles, Prince of Tyre (1608)
  • Cymbeline (1610)
  • The Winter's Tale (1611)
  • The Tempest (1611)

  • Histories

There's no doubt Shakespeare found the royal court to be something of an enigma. He crafted tales of betrayal, love, and murder, all within the king's court. We can learn a lot about this period in time through these plays:

    • King John (1595 - 1597)
    • Richard II (1595 - 1596)
    • Richard III (1592 - 1594)
    • Henry IV, Part 1 (1596 - 1597)
    • Henry IV, Part 2 (1597 - 1598)
    • Henry VI, Part 1 (1592)
    • Henry VI, Part 2 (1591)
    • Henry VI, Part 3 (1595)
    • Henry V (1599)
    • Henry VIII (1613)

Shakespeare's plays are wildly regarded as being among the greatest in the language and are continually performed around the world. The play have been translated into every major living language.

                Shakespeare's Sonnets

Shakespeare's poems or sonnets were written on a variety of themes. When discussing or referring to Shakespeare's sonnet ,it is almost always a reference to the 154 sonnets that were first published all together in a quarto in 1609.

      characters of the sonnets
                Fair Youth
                The Dark Lady
               The Rival Poet

                   About Macbeth.

The author of the tragic play is William Shakespeare. It was first performed in 1606. It was Shakespeare’s shortest tragic play. The main character of the play is Macbeth, the Scottish King. Three witches tell Macbeth that he will become the King in the near future. His wife inspired him to kill the king and he then becomes king himself and kills more and more people out of insanity.  Five act play with several scenes.

Macbeth is today best known as the main character of William Shakespeare's tragedy Macbeth and the many works that it has inspired.
However , Shakespeare's Macbeth is based on Raphael Holinshed's Chronicles(published in 1577) and is not historically accurate.
In this story , Macbeth wants to become a king ,at that time he got the prophecy from witches and he blindly trusts upon the prophecy and in his belief of witches prophecy his wife Lady Macbeth supports him and he kills the king Duncan and Banqo for being a king or fulfill his ambitions. As a result ,at the end he kills by Malcolm and he meets his tragic end.

"Fair is foul, Foul is Fair"
                                             - Three Witches

The story starts, when Benqo gives a news about Macbeth that he fights for Resent Battles and he succeed on that fight. At that time, King Duncan tells Banqo that gives him a news that King Duncan promoted him as a thane of chowder but before he gives the news ,witches tells three prophecy according to their imagination to Macbeth.  And when  Banqo gives the news he feels that the first prophecy of witches comes true that's why he writes a letter to his wife ,and he share that matter with his wife than Lady Macbeth forces him to kill King Duncan to be a king. So Macbeth kills Duncan and be a king than he reminds the next prophecy of witches which was about his son , he wants that his son will be a next king after him but the third prophecy we're that ,Banqo's son will be a next king after Macbeth that's why he kills Banqo and his son .  Then after his wife feels regret for what they have done for their lust that's why she feels her hand bloody that's why she washes her hand repeatedly because she wants to remove the blood from her hand. After some time, Malcolm kills him . Here is the end of the story.

              What Is The Ambition ?

Ambition is a personal desire or intention to achieve greatness or success.

Macbeth As A Tragedy Of Ambition.

we all known this drama is based on higher desire or  ambition of  both the protagonist lady Macbeth and Macbeth .

Story starts, when Macbeth  succed in the resent battles. as a result  King Duncan promoted Macbeth as a thane of Cawdor for his success. King Duncan give this news Banco and tells him that  he gives this news to Macbeth. bat before he gave the news ,three witches were specks prophecy  about Macbeth and when Banco give this news ,Macbeth feels that the prophecy goes to be true .

Macbeth has already that ambition to be a King of  SCOTLAND and when witches tells the prophesy and when Banco gave the news , Macbeth feels  that his ambition can be true .

So, he kills King Duncan to be a King and than after he feels that witches prophecy must be true,at that time he remind third prophecy of witches that was "  Banco's son will become a next king". Here Macbeth wants that his son will be a next king instead of Banco's son. That's why Macbeth kills Banco and his son.

At the end, this ambitions were becomes a reason of his tragic flaw because this is not his destiny to be a king , he becomes a king for his ambitions and blindly trusts of the prophecy of witches.

        Lady-Macbeth as a ambitious character :-

Lady Macbeth's character were also represented as an ambitious character. When Macbeth tells about witches prophecy through the latter, she forced his husband to kill the Duncan because she also wants to be a queen of Scotland and knows that if his husband becomes a king than only she becames  a Queen.  She also made a plan how to kill Duncan.

At the end, she feels what they have done for their ambitions and kills king Duncan and Banco. At the end, she   saws us that she washes her hand repeatedly because she wants to remove the blood from her hand, and at the end she dies for the frustration.

So, we can say that ambitions is good but blindly trusts on ambitions that is not good because it can be your weakness or also become a reason of yours falls.

          Ambition In today's time :-

We can also seen the ambitions in today's life everywhere.

   For example :- In Politics
                              In Younger's Goal
                              In Social Life

In today's life people can do anything to get their ambitions.they doesn't care for what they have to do is that right or wrong.

Yonger's have their personal desire or goal, and they tries to get their goal but when they doesn't get their goal they chooses the wrong way to get the goal.

Politics also seems to do wrong for achieve the goal or get the power. They doesn't care for other people they only thinks for their own ambitions.we can see this idea on the Indian Drama Ghasiram Kotwal written by Vijay Tendulkar.

In social life we mostly seems people who blindly runs away for get their ambitions. They only wants to get their ambitions, they doesn't thinks for thet what effect will this have on other people.

 For example:- Study
                           Job
                          Marketing

In study , they takes admission to use money in a very good school or Colleges.

In Job ,there also we saw the same that the owner of that job gives first chanse to their relatives rather than a good qualities man.

In marketing we also gate the same idea that they takes a good position and gets good salery.

They haven't better knowledge but they takes a good place with the use of Money and Power.

Word Count :- 1611

            Thank You
